The Anambra State Police Command has paraded some suspects for various crimes including cultism, child stealing, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and murder.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar paraded the suspects and displayed exhibits recovered from them at the Police Headquarters Amawbia.
The items recovered from the suspects include twenty four locally made guns, forty two cartridges, four life ammunition, cutlasses, axes and swords while eighteen suspects of illegal revenue collection were arrested and paraded alongside others suspected of Cultism, Child stealing, Armed Robbery, one chance syndicate and kidnapping among others.
Addressing Journalists, Mr. Umar stated that the Command has recorded tremendous successes in reducing crimes to the barest minimum and revealed that since October this year, the command equally launched aggressive manhunt for cultists in the state and have arrested over one hundred confessed cult members who hitherto were source of nightmare to the State residents.
The State Police Commissioner pointed out that following an intelligence reports, the Command arrested one Salafa Delays with two fabricated pistols and two live cartridges suspected to be among the robbery syndicate terrorizing Onitsha and environs, while one Chukwuemeka Umeji was arrested for allegedly stabbing his elder brother one Chigozie Aghaji of Nenco filling station Okpuno Nnewi as well as arrest of one Ikechukwu Atapka from Aguleri and his accomplice one John Osita for allegedly broken into the residence of one Professor Eric Ofoedu.
On the issue of illegal collection of tolls and levies and all forms of extortions in the state under false pretense of government revenue, Mr. Umar warned all those involved to have a rethink and desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.
CP Umar attributed the successes achieved to the support of Ndi Anambra who provide the command with useful information about criminals and their hideout and urged residents to report any suspicious movement of persons by calling police emergency number 07039194332, assuring that with the assistance by Governor Willie Obiano, the command is motivated to provide safe and secure environment for all citizens in the state.
One of the victims of illegal revenue collection who is also a Police project developer, Chief Jude Duruoma narrated his ugly experience with the suspects while Mr. Sunday Anaekwe, a suspected illegal revenue collector equally told his own side of the story.
