Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has won an award as the Best Governor/Premier On Security Architecture in West and Central Africa.
The award ceremony which held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the conference hall of the Labranda resort in Banjul, The Gambia was the 15th edition of the Africa Security Watch Awards.
The ceremony which had Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state as the guest speaker, recognized Governor Willie Obiano’s exemplary effort in fighting crime in the state and making Anambra state one of the safest states in Nigeria, and in the West and Central Africa region.
Other awardees include the President of the Gambia, His Excellency, President Adama Barrow who was honoured with the Golden Star award for exemplary national service in West Africa, GTBank Gambia, Nigeria Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, Chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Buratai and a host of others.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Obiano who was represented by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke dedicated the award to God and Ndi Anambra. He thanked the organizers for the award and promised that the award will motivate Anambra state government and Governor Obiano to do more to ensure that Anambra state continues to maintain its status as one of the safest states in the West/Central Africa region.
