A three Day Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ, Free Prosthetic Limb Measurement has commenced in Awka.
The event which was ongoing at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka attracted physically challenged persons in the state and beyond.
Those present at the venue were men and women as well as children with various degrees of physical injuries.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano through her pet project CAFÉ and her husband Governor Willie Obiano has been supporting the Disability Community in the state in various ways and revealed that the Governor recently approved the employment of additional two hundred persons with disabilities into the state work force.
The SSA called on other philanthropists and state governments to emulate Governor Obiano and his wife in providing succor and relief to people with disabilities for a better and prosperous society.
Explaining the aim of the exercise to the ABS, one of the Directors of Cafe, Dr. Mrs. Ifeoma Mmadukasi, said that free prosthetic limb measurement is to measure the degrees of injuries each and every one of the participants sustained, in order to bring artificial limbs that will fit them sponsored by Chief Mrs. Obiano.
Dr Mrs. Mmadukasi who noted that the Governor’s wife through CAFE has been giving succour to the physically challenged persons in the state over the years, called on Ndi Anambra and other residents of the state who have people with such needs to bring them to the venue of the exercise for measurements, as the whole exercise is totally free.
The Executive assistant to the Governor on Albinism, Miss Chidimma Oramali, described Chief Mrs. Obiano as an amazon whose humanitarian services to the society have been recognized both locally and internationally and prayed God to give her grace that will sustain the program.
One of the participants, Mr. Joachim Akeze from Ukpor, Nnewi South Council Area, thanked the Governor’s wife for coming to their aid and prayed that God will continue to bless the Anambra first family.
It would be recalled that the Governor’s wife through Café, has given artificial limbs to over one thousand, five hundred people in the past and has promised to surpass the number this year.
The event ends on Friday twenty third November 2018 and it starts from 7.am to 5.pm daily.
