Governor Willie Obiano  has  won the Radio Nigeria Award of Excellence in Governance for his developmental strides in Anambra
State.

Presenting the award at the Emmaus House Awka, venue of the Radio Nigeria Purity FM 102.5 FM Awka, thirtieth Anniversary Public Lecture, Award and Fund Raising Ceremony, the Zonal Director of Federal Radio
Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Enugu National Station, Mr. Ken Okere,
said Governor Obiano deserves all the accolades coming to him as he has changed the face of governance in Anambra State.

He said Anambra State is now rated as one of the safest states in Nigeria adding that organized labour in the state and outside the
state, have variously appreciated the Governor for prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions in a country where other states are owing months and years of backlog of salaries.

Mr. Okeke noted that the media practitioners were particularly thrilled when in 2017 he paid the twenty- five year gratuity and pensions backlog of their colleagues at Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) and National Light Newspapers.

The Zonal Director recalled that Anambra State has also been rated highly by the World Bank as the best performing state in the South East and South South in the implementation of World Bank projects.

He  noted  that the education, agriculture and other sectors continue to do very well in the state and stressing that  on many indices,
Anambra State stands tall among equals.

Receiving the award on behalf of Governor Obiano, Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Mr. Tony Nezianya, thanked the management of Radio Nigeria (Purity FM) for the award and assured that he will do even more for Ndi Anambra.

Other awardees at the event included Prince Arthur Eze, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, Chief Daniel Chukwudozie, Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor and Chief Everest Uba.
