The Second Round of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week will kick off across the state from Monday twenty sixth to thirtieth November 2018.

The Commissioner for Heath, Dr. Joe Akabuike, made this known during a
Press Briefing in Awka.

Dr. Akabuike said that the week is aimed at
improving the livelihood as well as reduce morbidity and mortality rates in Nigeria and noted that since inception of the week in 2010, it has recorded laudable achievements and millions of women and children have received various intervention services.

According to the Commissioner, the five day national week is targeted at delivering an intensive package of promotive and preventive services known to be highly cost effective and result oriented for improved maternal, newborn and Child health.

He added that the overall goal of the exercise is to reduce neonatal, maternal and Child morbidity and mortality as well as improve
effective access to maternal, newborn and Child health.

The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu, revealed that the program is one in which health interventions are given to children between the age of
zero to fifty nine months and encouraged mothers and caregivers to bring out their children and wards out during the exercise to benefit from it.

The exercise will hold at all government Primary Health care Centres, designated General, Teaching, Mission and Private hospitals, churches, markets and schools across Anambra State and the week will
be flagged off on Tuesday twenty seventh November 2018, at Ukwulu Primary Health Centre, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
