Awkuzu Progressive Union over the weekend held a grand reception for Awkuzu indigenous appointees of the Anambra State Government.

The reception which started with an Inter denominational church service at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church Awkuzu, attracted Awkuzu sons and daughters, friends and well wishers of the appointees, the clergy among others.

Expressing his joy over the recognition and reception by his community, the Commissioner for Transport Mr Uchenna Okafor who is the leader of the Awkuzu political appointees in Governor Willie Obiano’s administration said that it is a great joy for him, and maintained that they were grateful to the governor who found them competent and worthy to serve in his administration.

The Commissioner pointed out that the ministry is resolute in ensuring free flow of traffic in the state as well as exploring other means of transportation like light rail and water ways to enhance the transportation system in Anambra state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Nze Uche Nworah and Barrister Chike Mmaduekwe who came to felicitate with Mr Okafor, appreciated Governor Obiano for choosing the best team to serve in his government, describing the Commissioner as one of the leading lights of the state government and urged them to be good ambassadors of their community as they serve the state.

Earlier during the interdenominational church service, the officiating priest Venerable Emma Uzuegbunam from the Paul University Awka who said in every organized society, there is a deliberate and concerted human resource development and a purposeful leadership, charged the
appointees to work diligently and with the fear of God.

An emeritus Dean Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa who is an indigene of Awkuzu, prayed for God continuous blessings and protections on the appointees.

Some of the dignitaries at the event were the traditional ruler of Ogbunike, Igwe Ositadimma Umenyiorah, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Wealth Creation Dr. Christian Mmadubuko, the Apga flag bearer for the Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections Mr. Ekene Enefe among many other government functionaries and stakeholders.
