The State government has constituted a Caretaker Committee for Isuaniocha development Union, in Awka North local Government Area.
The setting up of the Caretaker Committee, followed the dissolution of Chief Tony Onyeagolu led executive, whose tenure should have ended in May 2021.
A release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mrs Vera-Queen Okonkwo, said that Mr Ike Okonkwo from Umuelom village Isuaniocha is to serve as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee while Mr Francis Mkpume from Umuneri village will serve as Secretary.
According to the statement, the nine member Caretaker Committee of Isuaniocha Town Union has to reconcile the different factions in the community in addition to restoring the spirit of oneness in the area as some of its terms of reference.
The committee is also to put in place a structure that will ensure and sustain a peaceful co-existence in the community, in addition to preparing grounds for the smooth conduct of a credible election into the community’s development union, to be supervised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
According to the statement, the committee has a tenure of three months with effect from seventh December 2018.
