The Federal government has been urged to give equal right to people living with disabilities in the scheme of things across the country.

A lecturer in the faculty of Law, UNIZIK Awka, Professor Ogugua Ikpeze, while considering the difficulties faced by people living with disabilities in the country, stressed the need for them to be
encouraged both at the government, community and individual levels.

Professor Ikpeze, who is a member of FIDA Anambra state chapter stated that the primary aim is to make them feel sense of belonging as people before now disassociate, intimidate and isolate them in the scheme of things.

She thanked God that people globally are now reawakening to their responsibilities to people with disabilities and called for more awareness creation.
The University Lecturer called on the federal government to implement policies that would give them easy access around their surroundings.

She maintained that intelligent ones among them need to be encouraged to obtain education and give equal chance to serve at all levels.

Professor Ikpeze commended Governor Willie Obiano for giving them appointment and chance to work in government establishments even to the ranks of Permanent Secretary, Special Assistance, Head of Departments among others, urging other states to emulate Anambra and make people happy and feel sense of belonging.

She called on traditional rulers and presidents general of communities to include them in decision making and allow them hold office in their communities.
