For the Ezenwa royal family, the Oba Patriotic Union and the entire Oba community the passing on of Igwe Peter Ezenwa after ninety two years sojourn on earth, is one that calls for celebration.
This is more so, when one recalls that he reigned over the community for forty two years.
The remains of the royal father were taken to St Peter’s Anglican Church Oba in a motor cade accompanied by family members, Igwe in Council, members of the community, friends and well wishers.
The funeral service was presided over by the Primate Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh.
Amongst the dignitaries who paid their last respect to Igwe Ezenwa were Governor Willie Obiano, former Governor Dame Virgy Etiaba, some present and past political office holders and host of Clergymen.
The remains of late Igwe Ezenwa were later interred in his Ezeokpoko mausoleum in his compound.
Condolences followed at Ezeokpoko’s palace amidst cultural displays and performances by musicians of different kinds.
Speaking at the event, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh described Igwe Ezenwa as a great achiever who had invested in the lives of his people and brought Oba community to the lime light.
The member representing Idemili South in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Chuka Ezenwune and a former state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Mrs. Azuka Enemo described him as an epitome of humility, justice, Godly courage and hard work, urging his children to keep to his legacies.
For some of the Igwe’s cabinet members, Chief Dr. Felix Uzor, Chief Benneth Chibueze and some Oba indigenes Mr. Chiedu Emelobe and Sir Chris Ubadike, Igwe Ezenwa was a true leader one could rely on.
Others who spoke at the event include Bishop Johnson Ekwe of Niger West Diocese, traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Sir Benneth Emeka among others.
The first son of Royal Father and the regent of Oba, Chief Noel Ezenwa, and his younger brother, Honorable Henry Ezenwa thanked God and all who participated in making the celebration of life of Igwe Ezeokpoko a huge success.
