The Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, has organized an end of year and Christmas party for school children in the State as part of activities to promote festive mood for the coming yuletide
The party held in the ABS premises attracted teachers, parents and pupils from various schools in the state and provided platform for entertaining and educating the school children in grand style.
Addressing the children, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue represented by Mrs. Chinwe Umerie described Christmas as remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, advising children to always obey and respect their parents and love one another in order to gain eternal life.
Lady Ndidi commended the ABS for organizing such a wonderful event wishing the children merry Christmas and prosperous New Year in advance.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ABS, Nze Uche Nworah explained that the event is an annual event aimed at making children happy, and lauded the sponsors of the event for their kind gesture.
Nze Nworah charged the children not to demand too much from their parents this season as things are very hard, and to appreciate efforts of their parents towards giving them a better life.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman Organizing Committee of the event, Mrs. Ify Unachukwu and Director Commercial Department of the ABS, Mrs. Beatrice Akwanamnye maintained that it is part of the social responsibilities of ABS to organize children’s party, and that the station is poised to make sure that every child in Anambra state is carried along, and thanked the management of ABS for the opportunity given to the team.
While commending the ABS for initiating the event , Miss Gabriel Chimkasi from Edify Nursery and Primary School, Nodu Okpuno and Master Chiekezie Emmanuel from Hez Dike Nursery, Primary and Secondary School, Awka expressed happiness for participating in the party, adding that they have learnt a lot from the party and prayed God to bless the sponsors and organizers who made the event a success.
Some parents including Mrs. Mabel Nwakaego Obelagu and Mr. Ekene Obidimma described this year’s Christmas party as interesting and entertaining.
The Christmas party featured sack race, fill up your bowl competitions, visitation of the grotto, chair dance, sancta’s stage appearance, carols, calisthenics and cutting of Christmas cake among others.
