Anambra residents have been urged to uphold safety tips to prevent fire outbreak during this dry season in order to safeguard their lives and property.
The walk commenced from the Agency’s Headquarters, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, through Aroma to Amawbia by Old Road and through to Eke Awka, Nkwo Amaenyi and back to its Headquarters.
The walk, which also had members of Nigerian Institute of Safety Engineers, Anambra state chapter, Smith City Rotary club of Awka and a music band featured distribution of flyers and display of banners, to enlighten people on fire safety tips during the dry season.
In an interview at the end of the walk, the Chief Fire Officer of the state, Mr. Martins Agbili, said, the essence of the sensitization walk was to re-awaken safety consciousness and precautions in the people as the dry season is here while also reiterating their preparedness for any fire outbreak and emergency, noting that the Agecy’s contacts are on the shared leaflets.
In their remarks on fire safety and prevention, Rotarian Chidi Obiudu of Awka Smith Club and Engineer Anayo Mmouzuka from the Nigerian Institute of Safety Engineers, noted that they will use other avenue available to them in spreading the message of fire safety, prevention and precautions while also urging those travelling to always switch off all electrical appliances as well as making use of qualified technicians and Engineers in electrical installations in their buildings.
