Umudora Anam Community Honours Anambra West TC Chairman Okafor

Umudora Anam Community in Anambra West Council Area was agog as the community held a Thanksgiving mass and grand reception in hounour of their son, Honourable Sir Sylvester-Orji Okafor.

Sir Sylvester Okafor is the current Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area.

The glamorous event which kicked off with a holy mass at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Umudora Anam was concelebrated by the Parish Priest of the church, Reverend Father JohnPaul Onyeogubali, Reverend Father Anthony Chidozie of Saint Dominic Catholic Church, Fegge Onitsha and Reverend Father Cletus Okoye of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Igbu Awkuzu.

Delivering a homily during the mass which was well attended by Umudora sons and daughters, political associates of Sir Sylvester, family and friends, Knights and Ladies Auxiliaries, members and staff of Anambra West Local Government Area, members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance among others, Reverend Father Okoye who is an indigene of the community, stressed the need for people to always appreciate God for his love, grace and compassion in their lives irrespective of their conditions.

Reverend Father Okoye who described Sir Sylvester as a well disciplined man, honest and sincere with the fear of God urged the community to pray and support him for him to excel in his new
position, even as he charged the chairman never to indulge in anything that will tarnish the good reputation he has built over the years and prayed God to continue to bless him and the entire community.

Speaking to the ABS during the grand reception, the pioneer chairman of Anambra Local Government Area, Chief Emmanuel Nnachor, the immediate past Transition Committee chairman of the Council Area, Honourable Tonny-Collins Nwabunwanne and the APGA candidate for the Anambra West Constituency in the 2019 general elections, Honourable Obalim Udoba, described Sir Sylvester as a hardworking and an upright man, who has served the party and his community diligently over the years and prayed God to direct his path.

Appreciating those who came to celebrate with him, Sir Sylvester thanked God for his blessings in his life and eulogised Governor Willie Obiano for finding him worthy to serve in his government, even as he commended Ndi Umudora Anam for the honour done him & assured that he will steer the affairs of the Local Government Area with the fear of God.

The immediate past Anambra State Acting Director of the National Orientation Agency Mr. Mike Ozoemena, the Transition Committee chairman of Ogbaru local government area, Comrade Arinzechukwu Awogu, his Nnewi South Counterpart, Honourable Odimegwu were also in attendance, while Atu mmanwu performance and Nkpokiti dance made the celebration a memorable one.
