It was jubilation for children at Model Community Children’s Home and Day Care Centre, Real Estate Ifite-Awka as prayer group under the Office of the State Deputy Governor visit the facility in the spirit of Christmas.
The group visited the orphanage with bags of rice, toiletries, cartons of soap, detergents, noodles, drinks, among others.
Speaking during the event, the Director of Administration in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr Azubuike Nkala who is also the Coordinator of the weekly prayers said the group decided to provide the children with the items as a way of showing appreciation to God for His mercies.
Describing God as the giver of wealth, Mr Nkala encouraged affluent individuals to use their wealth in helping the have nots in the society.
He further called on Christians to use the period of Christmas in touching lives.
Responding, the officer in charge of the Home, Reverend Sister Philomena Akuchukwu thanked the group for the kind gesture calling on others to emulate them.
Songs of joy and prayers by the children added glamour to the event.
