Over five hundred tertiary students, drawn from the seventeen towns that make up Idemili North and South Council Areas, have demonstrated support to the political bids of Senator Victor Umeh and Chief Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi.
The support was shown in an endorsement ceremony held at the Council Headquarters of Idemili North, Ogidi.
The students under the aegis of Amalgamated Idemili Students, were made up of youths in Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, Health and Vocational Institutes across the state and beyond.
In his endorsement speech, the Chief convener of the ceremony and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Mr. Hilary Nkem Okeke, said the students see the candidature of both Senator Umeh and Chief Ibezi as a perfect political contribution that would give the strongest voice of true representation to the teeming youths of the Idemili.
In his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Council Area, Barrister Asha Nnabuife, stated that the event was a true proof belief of the youths in a functional political quest that has been demonstrated by the two candidates and pledged that the people of the councils are right behind them.
In their separate acceptance speeches, Senator Umeh who was represented by the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Council Area, Engineer Ikeobi Ejiofor, recounted his achievements in the Senate and noted that his cardinal agenda for both the youths and the people of Anambra Central remain intact, while Chief Ibezi who is riding on two-point agenda of women and youth empowerment, spoke of his plans for the Idemili students, if he wins.
The Director General of Ifeanyi Ibezi campaign organization, and a one-time Commissioner for Information in Anambra State, Chief Tony Onyima, said the spirited gathering and large turn out of students, were indications of youth support which must be reciprocated by both candidates.
Chief Umeh is the APGA candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while Chief Ibezi on the other hand is the party’s standard bearer for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, in February sixteenth twenty-nineteen federal legislative elections.
