Citizens have been urged to take charge of their environment and always be security conscious in order to prevent loss of lives and properties.

This formed the highpoint of speeches made during a one day security conference held in Awka.

The event was organised by CID Uyans, a special security outfit from the United States of America, owned by Mr C I D Uyanwune from Awka.

In his speech, Mr Uyanwunne gave kudos to Governor Willie Obiano for the water tight security arrangement in the state, saying he was particularly happy that he could walk along the streets in Anambra cities and villages, without private body guards, adding that it gives him maximum confidence.

Mr Uyanwune said he was moved to hold the conference so as to bring like minds together to complement what Governor Obiano is doing already.

He promised to apply the expertise he garnered over the years in his practice to further strengthen the efforts of the Governor.

Addressing the participants among whom were retired police officers, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr Oscar Christopher said the event tagged “Anambra security, fire and emergency evacuation conference “was in tandem with Governor Obiano’s exploits in ensuring safe environment, describing Anambra as the safest state in the country, evident in the increase in Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

A Guest speaker, Lieutenant Colonel Chikadibia Obiakor retired, described security as the road to economic stability and development, appreciating, the CID Uyans Group for taking the initiative towards a more secured Anambra state.

While delivering a lecture, the chairman Anambra State Vigilante Committee, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba, urged the security Officers to be abreast with evolving security challenges in parts of the country,
commending the synergy among all the security agencies in the state that brought about the success story in the security situation of the state.

On his part, another guest, Major Kandibere Chukwuma, said high rate of unemployment is responsible for the rise in crime in the country and called on youths to engage in meaningful ventures to quench the urge for social vices.
