Observed by Common Wealth nations, Boxing Day is marked on the 26th December every year ,when masters present Christmas box to their servants who in turn present the boxes to their families.

It is also a day when money and other gift items are given to the poor and needy in the society.

Similarly, 26th December is a day to present gift to loved ones.

Speaking on the significance of the day, a Catholic Priest Reverend Father Chika Okpalaike urged the affluent in the society to offer gift to the less privileged ones around them, visit the aged, and the motherless babies, and try to put smiles on the faces of people working directly under them.
