Residents of the state have been reminded that security of lives and property is the collective responsibility of the government and the people.

Speaking to journalists in Awka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Mr. Ostar Christopher urged them to remain security conscious and provide useful information to security
agencies to enable them keep criminals away from the state as he said Governor Willie Obiano’s administration is determined to maintain the state crime free status .

Mr. Christopher noted that the proactive measures and effective security apparatus put in place by the Governor and adequate empowerment of security agencies have continued to make the state a reference point in security , noting that the state vigilante service working under the close supervision of the police has kept all communities very safe which he noted has encouraged mass return of ndi Anambra from various parts of the world for the Christmas and new Year celebrations with many socio- cultural activities lined up by various communities.

He pointed out that the street light initiative of the Governor has further strengthened security across the state, restored night life and increased volume of socio- economic activities.

Mr. Christopher said the state government has sustained measures in maintaining peaceful and harmony between farmers and herdsmen to check excesses and acts capable of causing conflict.

The S.S.A on Security explained that the Governor is equally taking security to next level by incorporating modern technology including installation of close circuit television and reactivating effective communication network while the on- going aerial surveillance would enhance rapid response to emergencies.

He urged communities to give vigilante services in their areas necessary support and encouragement to perform effectively.
