As part of efforts to provide succor to the needy, Mr. Walter Chigbo of Mkpechi village Ugwu Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area has distributed twenty kilogrammes of rice each to over two thousand indigent widows of the community through is empowerment programme.

Chief Chigbo, who distribute the items at his residence, said that every twenty fifth of December in the last ten years back he always distribute food items and cash, to provide succor and touch lives of the vulnerable and widows of his community to make them feel and celebrate  Christmas.

He explained that due to downturn in the nation’s economy, some people could not buy food items to celebrate the yuletide and made it clear that he has no political ambition or ulterior motive in his laudable charity works but stressed that as far as he lives he will continue to maintain the momentum.

In a remark, the Deputy State Woman leader APGA, Mrs Njideka Mojeke, said the philanthropy of Mr. Chigbo in the development of the community will remain indelible.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Benedith Ofeagu, and Josephine Nwachukwu, who said they were highly overwhelmed with joy showered encomiums to the philantrophist and prayed God to reward him back.

Meanwhile the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, NUP, Anambra State Chapter Conferred on Mr. Chigbo the Patron of NUP in the state 

Presenting the award, the Chairman of the Union, Doctor Anthony Ugozo said the honour was in recognition of his humanitarian gestures and philanthropic disposition to members of the Union and state.

Responding, Mr. Chigbo pledged to intensify his efforts to ensure that lives are touched positively.
