Members of the public have been advised not to attend the event termed Awka Day celebration holding at Ndichie Hall, Umudioka Awka, as it is not known to the custom and tradition of Awka people, and does not have approval of the Traditional Ruler, Obi Gibson Nwosu, and the President-General, Engineer Tony Okechukwu.

This was contained in a release signed by the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Nwosu and the President-General, Engineer Okechukwu.

According to the release, the ceremony is couched in deceit, and is aimed at causing breakdown of law and order in Awka.
