The Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpe, has decried the present state of Ndigbo in the Nigerian Nation.
Igwe Ikpe stated this when MTN Executives, the official sponsor of the 2018 Igu Aro Ceremony paid him a condolence visit at his Palace in Enugwu-Ukwu.
Igwe Ekpe said that among major components of the Nation, Igbos are not carried along, noting that it is adversely affecting pace of development in the Country, as Igbos are blessed with intelligent people scattered all over the world.
While calling on Ndigbo to forge a united front and speak with one voice, Igwe Ekpe promised to continue promoting the rich services offered by MTN in the Community and beyond, and called on Ndigbo to work towards promoting their rich cultural heritage.
Earlier, Mr. Tobechukwu Okigbo who is the Corporate Relations Officer for MTN, said that they decided to pay the visit to the Traditional Ruler to commiserate with the Community over the sudden loss of one of the major organizers of the Igu Aro festival.
Mr. Okigbo, while emphasizing that MTN’s support to Enugwu-Ukwu is unflinching, pledged commitment to service provision, promising to address ailing aspects of their services due to the undulating nature of the terrain.
While pointing out that due to challenges, they are gradually stopping several interventions all over the Country, Mr. Okigbo pointed out that MTN is all about connecting people, expressing optimism that the good relationship they have with the Community will continue, because, according to him, Enugwu-Ukwu is the head of the Igbo race.
The President General of Enugwu-Ukwu, Chief Bonny Ozo-Nkwuaku, thanked MTN for supporting the Community’s efforts at making the Society a better place.
A Special book about Institutions in Enugwu-Ukwu, Nri, among others was presented to the MTN executives.
The member representing Njikoka One Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Tim Ifedioranma, cabinet members, among others were also present.
Recall that the 2018 Umunri Colloquium scheduled to hold yesterday was canceled due to the sudden demise of the former President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union as well as the present Chairman of the Igu Aro Commission, Chief P.J.C Nwokafor.
