The World Igbo Leadership, Education and Cultural Council in conjunction with the Igbo Information and Communication Network has organized the 2018 Igbo International Yuletide Retreat.
The event which has lasted for three years is centered on bringing together Ndigbo in the diaspora to brainstorm on a common goal which is economic, social, political and cultural frontiers.
The President-General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo world-wide Chief John Nnia Nwodo while speaking during the event commended the initiative urging Ndigbo to unite and always speak with one voice.
Chief Nwodo further maintained that restructuring is the only way to set things right in the country, calling on Ndigbo to vote wisely during the forthcoming general elections.
In an address, the Host and President of Igbo World Assembly, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, who is also the Traditional Prime Minister of Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, charged Ndigbo to embrace education, uphold their rich cultural heritage and also invest in the area for robust economic growth and development.
On their parts, the founder of Otu Subakwa Igbo, Professor Pita Ejiofor and the chairman World Igbo Congress Professor Anthony Ejiofor, who commended the efforts of the Igbo World Assembly and noted that reviving the Igbo language should be the spring board for achieving the objective of making the Igbo nation an outstanding tribe.
Others who spoke at the event including a former Commissioner for Works in Anambra State, Mrs Chika Ibeneme, Professor Emma Okocha, a Nollywood Actor, Ugezu Ugezu and Chief Clems Ofoedu all appreciated the organizers of the event calling on Ndigbo to embrace love and unity in diversity as a way to attracting more development to the region.
