The two brother communities of Nnokwa in Idemili South Council Area
and Oraeri in Aguata Council Area recently  celebrated their forty years reunion anniversary in grand  style.

According to history, the two brothers, who migrated from ancient Nri kingdom, later settled at different locations after a quarrel.

Their descendants had a historic reunion in 1977, hence the forty years reunion anniversary and unveiling of a compendium titled “Nnokwa in words and colours” to preserve and sustain its history for future generation.

The event kick-started with ten gun salute to herald the occasion, flute blowing to welcome the people and war dance display to thrill the audience.

Speaking on the significance of the event, the traditional rural of Nnokwa, Igwe Emmanuel Ajamma and his Oraeri counterpart Ezenri Emmanuel Nriagu explained that the coming together of the two communities was to re-emphasize their oneness.

In a welcome address, the President General, Nnokwa Progress Union, Sir Joseph Uchendu maintained that nothing would bring disunity and disintegration among them again.

The Chairman on the occasion and a cabinet Chief in Nnokwa, Prince Charles Ezeagwu expressed satisfaction on the event, reiterating that the compendium would  haveb great impact  on the lives of Ndi Nnokwa.

Earlier in his opening prayer, Venerable Chidi Onyetube thanked God for the reunion and togetherness of both communities, praying God to continue to strengthen and unite them in love forever.

The Chairman, Egbenu-Oba Dance Group, Oraeri, Chief Livinus Chukwuma said the Egbenu-Oba dance signified peace and love,  while the book reviewer Professor Chudi Okoye of Unizik Awka, and an indigene of Nnokwa, said   they gathered to make history,  describing the book as archival, intellectual harvest and historical edifice of Nnokwa.

The event which had in attendance the Director of News and Current Affairs, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, traditional Prime Minister, Chief Richard Okelu, cabinet members, from both Oraeri and Nnokwa, old and young of the communities featured unveiling of the Nnokwa Compendium, embrace by Igwe Ohanyelu Nnokwa and Ezenri Oraeri, as well as Egbenu-Oba cultural dance display.
