Women Wing of Umu Okafor Anaefuna Kindred in Okpuno, Awka South Council Area has launched a complete set of brand new musical instruments .
During the event which took place at Ezinifite Field Okpuno the women dressed in blue and milk coloured attire with blue beret on blue shoes dancing to the tune of their musical instruments, entertaining the mammoth crowd that trooped out to watch them.
The band which has Igwe, lolo, Prince and Princess, also has their members dressed in Police, Fulani and Hausa costumes.
In a welcome address, the Chairman on occasion, Mr. Ekene Obidimma expressed joy and satisfaction on the new musical set launched by the women, asking them to embrace unity and love one another.
The President General Okpuno Town Union, Mr. Peter Obidimma, appreciated the women for initiating such a wonderful scheme as a way to generate money for the progress of the town and their families, and promised to sustain the initiative.
The Vicar of Saint John’s Anglican Church Okpuno, Reverend Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu who described music as soul of life, said dance and music are some of the things that give people joy, advising the women to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and truth among themselves.
The Chairlady Umuokafor Anaefuna Kindred, Mrs. Felicia Obidimma said that the aims of the initiative are to entertain, bring their women at home and in the Diaspora together, as well as build
lock up shops for renting with the resources that will accrue from the band, praying God to give them wisdom and understanding to achieve their targets.
On their parts, the Chairman Umu-Anaefuna Kindred, Mr. Onyemachukwu Obidimma, the group sponsor, Nze Daniel Chinwuba and Prince Ikechukwu Obidimma advised the women to be faithful in their dealings and eschew things that would bring disintegration and division.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion were the member representing Awka South Constituency one, Hon. Nnamdi Okafor, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Chief Godson Ezenagu, Ozo Odinakachukwu among others.
The event climaxed with the official inauguration of the cultural band and dance by the women.
