Ndi Anambra especially those boarding the mass transit buses of the state government, are now enjoying free transportation to their various destinations across the state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transport Company of Anambra State, Dr Ifeoma Madukasi stated this while exchanging views with newsmen in her office in Awka.

The largesse which commenced on the 25th of December 2018 will last for a period of three months.

The mass buses commonly known as “Willie is Working Buses” will ply routes including Unizik Junction to Onitsha Bridge Head, Ziks Avenue to Main Market and Nkwo Nnewi to Awka.

Others are Otuocha Roundabout to Awka, Onitsha to Uli, Amorka axis as well as Onitsha to Atani, Ogbaru Council Area.

The Company’s Managing Director Dr Madukasi said that the initiative was part of Governor Obiano’s interventions towards making life easier for the masses, as well as give support to APGA candidates contesting different elective positions, pointing out that it showcases the good working relationship existing between the Governor and the Transport System.

The TRACAS Head noted that they established a monitoring team to ensure strict compliance, stressing that even if their may be loss of revenue, the initiative will enhance the workings of the Company, adding that drivers and conductors receive incentives at the end of the day’s work, apart from their monthly salary.
