A man in his late twenties who allegedly has been sneaking into a poultry farm along Club Road, formerly Abakaliki Street in Awka, has been caught by the poultry farmer and beaten to stupor.
Narrating what happened; the farm owner who pleaded anonymity alleged that the thief has been sneaking into his poultry to steal chicken but ran out of luck when an unusual noise woke him from sleep, coming out to check, saw a strange man wondering around his poultry farm.
He then confronted the man who couldn’t give him any ready answer as to what his mission was.
The chicken farmer said he beat the thief out of anger over the chicken losses he had suffered in the past from the man whom he said must be the man who has been stealing from him.
But for the intervention of passersby, the alleged chicken thief would have suffered a deadly fate from the beatings.
When the ABS arrived the scene, he was seen lying motionless on the floor along club road, Awka, until a police unit arrived in their patrol van and took him away, alongside the chicken farmer to B
Division Police station for interrogation.
