Authorities at Ideke secondary school Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru council area have called on the state government to wade into the incessant encroachment of herdsmen and their cattle into the school compound.

The teachers made the appeal when ABS crew visited the school to monitor school resumption activities.

Cattle as well as herdsmen were seen in the school compound during the school hours.

The Acting Principal of the school, Mrs. Ann Nwosu and a teacher, Mrs. Nkoli Anikpe lamented their ordeals in the hands of the herdsmen saying that it has been a regular occurrence.

They narrated how the children were harassed by the herdsmen and their cattle whenever they were on break.

They maintained that the herdsmen have threatened them on several occasions when they tried to stop them from encroaching into their compound and called on the state government to come to their rescue.

Reacting to the development, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Secondary School Monitoring, Dame Chinyere Mbakwe who also witnessed the incident, expressed shock and worry and promised to channel the matter to the appropriate authority.
