The Anambra State Government has mobilized contractors with more than ten billion naira to asphalt the various ongoing road projects across the State before the rainy season.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this during inspection of road projects at Nnewi North and Awka South Council areas of the State.

The Governor stressed that the contractors numbers about fifty two.

One of the roads inspected is the 4.19 kilometres Unizik College of Health Sciences road, Nnewi in Nnewi North Council area awarded in 2015 where more than two kilometers have been asphalted.

According to Governor Obiano who explained that street lights will be put on the roads on completion, support should be accorded to APGA candidates vying for different positions in the coming elections.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor who assured ndi Nnewi of delivery of the road before the rains, said that by then, the College would have got their own road to ease movement.

The Governor was recieved by stakeholders in Nnewi, including former Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Mr Melie Onejepu, Dr Ernest Ifebi, among others.

The Governor also inspected construction of the 3.5 kilometres Unizik – Amansea road in Awka South Council area of the State where he canvassed total support for all APGA candidates, assuring not to renege in delivery of democracy dividends to the State citizenry, in keeping with his campaign promises.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor revealed that the Esther Obiakor has been awarded by the State Government, where work will soon commence.

The President of the Students Union Government, of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Mr Joseph Okafor applauded the Governor for coming to their rescue on the road which had been bad, pledging their unflinching support to ensure that such interventions continues.
