From the sports sector, the national under twenty team Flying Eagles will play Saudi Arabia in an international friendly ahead of next month’s Africa under twenty Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.
The team Administrator, Aliyu Ibrahim, said that arrangements were in place for the seven-time African champions to fly out of Nigeria next weekend for the game billed for January twenty-second in Jeddah.
The match will rekindle memories of the opening match of the 1989 under twenty World Cup, where the Flying Eagles came from behind to defeat the Saudis two one inside the King Fahd International Stadium on February sixteen, 1989.
In that match, Al Suraiti put the Saudis in front after sixteen minutes but Mutiu Adepoju and Christopher Ohenhen got second half goals that earned Nigeria the maximum two points.
The Flying Eagles eventually finished the tournament as runners-up, after losing the final two zero to Portugal.
Coach Paul Aigbogun is expected to travel to Jeddah with the squad where Nigeria will contest in Group A against the hosts Niger, South Africa and Burundi.
