Anambra State Government has commenced renovation work on the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
It has also been gathered that some other government structures across the state were also receiving attention, even as the Government partners developers for construction of mass housing units in the state.
Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Emeka Ezenwanne, explained that the renovation was in line with the government’s resolve to upgrade and build legacy projects for the state.
Briefing newsmen in his office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, Mr. Ezenwnne said that the state government through his Ministry had adopted unique approach to the business of upgrade and building of housing units.
According to the Commissioner, the structures will soon wear new look with installation of new gates, lots of internal and external re-construction work.
He, however, added that the government was concentrating on legacy projects at cost effective rate, assuring that the renovation projects would be concluded in record time.
The Commissioner added that Government commenced discussions with private sector developers for provision of mass housing for civil servants and other interested individuals in the state.
He re-assured that soon a major activity would take place in the area of mass housing, stressing that abandoned housing estates in the state would be revived.
Commenting on the abandoned Isiagu Housing Project for Civil Servants, he said that Anambra Government just awarded contract for construction of the access road to the site for commencement of work.
Mr. Ezenwanne assured that completion of the access road would facilitate actual construction work on the site, adding that the project would be modified and speedily delivered.
