State government has promised to install street lights along College Road Nnewi, Nnewi North Council Area.
Governor Willie Obiano made the promise when he inspected ongoing construction work on the road.
The Governor said the road when completed would have every necessary facility, including streetlights which will boost socio economic activities in the area.
Governor Obiano assured that his administration would continue to rehabilitate dilapidated roads in all parts of the state and would commence work on new projects. .
The Governor said instillation of streets lights has improved business activities and brought back night life in almost all the communities.
Mr. Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor said the four point nineteen kilometers road would bring to nine, the number of roads, the present administration embarked on.
The Contractor handling the project, Mr. John Arachie explained that the construction was in three segments; and one segment was two point one kilometres leading from Awka Etiti to Isseke.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Mr. Merie Onyejekwu noted that Governor Obiano, in collaboration with the Federal Government had intervened in the Nnewi erosion menace.
He said that about six point seven billion naira had been invested to control the erosion.
A former Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Virgy Etiaba re-assured of her support to the Governor, assuring that Nnewi would always be part of his success story.
