Suspects between ages of eighteen and twenty-eight have been paraded by the Anambra state Police Command for robbery related crimes.
The suspects who were arrested for robbery were twelve in number.
According to the State Police Commissioner Garba Umar the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad on twentieth January arrested Emeka Ihenacho aged twenty five, Ekene Edeh twenty- eight, Nwobodo Kosichukwu twenty- six and Rapuruchukwu Obum aged twenty-eight for robbing one Mbazue Chizoba of Nsugbe of his Accura Jeep ,while Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, AWKUZU, arrested one Abumchukwu Obiekwe, and Michael Okoye, on eighteenth January this year who allegedly conspired and injured one Michael Victor, through gunshot with intention of robbing him of his motorcycle at Agulu -Adazi-Nnukwu road, and exhibits recovered from the suspects include one locally made pistol, five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one cartridge.
Mr Umar said also that on twelfth January SARS, AWKUZU, arrested Chimezie Aronu, Uchenna Obiora and Chibuike Omankwu at Ire Village, Ogidi in Idemili North council area of the state for allegedly robbing and shooting one Ifeanyi Nwanga in Ifite-Dunu and exhibits recovered from them were one cut to size single barrel gun and one live cartridge while Ebuka Emekwite and Uchendu Afunwa were also arrested by SARS on thirteenth January for robbing one Linus Emeka of his Lexus Jeep and exhibits recovered from them were Lexus Jeep and one barreta pistol with six rounds of live ammunition of 9mm.
Parading the suspects, the Police Commissioner explained that in their continuous efforts to stem the tide of crimes and criminality to its barest minimum, the Command took proactive steps through intelligence gathering, visibility policing and constant raids on criminal hideouts in the
state, stressing that the measures yielded remarkable results.
The CP reiterated the Command’s call on Ndi Anambra to report any suspicious person to the nearest police station or through the Commands emergency number 07039194332 for immediate action.
Confessing to the crime, some of the suspects including Chimezie Aronu, and Emeka Iheanacho, explained that they indulged in the act in their quest for better lives for themselves and families, and pleaded for forgiveness.
