It was a celebration galore as persons living with disabilities in Anambra State celebrate the arrival of a brand new bus donated to them by Governor Willie Obiano.
The celebration was double, as they equally jubilate over the Presidential assent to the Disability Act.
Speaking to the ABS, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, explained that Governor Obiano made the promise of providing them with a bus to enhance the mobility and services of the Office of the Governor on disabilities which he has fulfilled and prayed God to continue to guide and guard the Governor for him to actualize his lofty objectives in the state.
Barrister Ezewuzie also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the Bill for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into law and revealed that the act protects the rights of the persons with disabilities and prohibits discrimination against them as punishment awaits any person or corporate entity engaging in acts of discrimination against or violation of the rights of persons with disabilities.
The State Chairman, National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Anambra State Chapter Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sign Language Communication Mr. Collins Joseph described Governor Obiano as the most disability friendly
Governor in Nigeria and prayed God to bless him and grant his heart desires.
