Four people sustained injuries in a multiple road accident involving a trailer truck, a bus , two cars and four tricycles at Ezeiweaka road by Tarzan junction Onitsha.
According to Police report, signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Muhammed the accident occurred when the trailer suddenly lost control and crushed four tricycles on the spot and also rammed into a Lexus 300 jeep , a Peugeot Boxer bus and one other Toyota Avalon car.
It stated that casualties who sustained serious injuries were rushed to the hospital for treatment while obstruction was cleared to enable free flow of traffic and the truck driver who caused the accident one Osadze Ogbuagu of No 36 Agbor Road, Benin City in Edo State was arrested and the case is under investigation to ascertain actual cause of the accident.
In another development the report said there was a fatal Motor vehicle and motorcycle accident along Otolo -Okigwe road in Nnewi North LGA of the State which involved a Mercedes 911 Tipper while allegedly on speed, lost control and knocked down motorcycle rider one Blessing Iteshi of Ikwo in Ebonyi State alongside her four children.
The statement said that Motor Traffic personnel attached to Otolo division visited the scene and rushed the victim to Akwudo hospital for medical attention where the said Blessing Iteshi and her two children one Chukwuebuka aged 6 years and Oluebube aged 5 years were certified dead by a medical Doctor while the two other victims are responding to treatment and the corpses have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for postmortem evaluation while the case is under investigation and effort is being intensified to apprehend the fleeing truck driver in order to bring him to Justice.
