Interesting how the outdoor life has become popular in Abuja. Before it was only Abuja Hash House Harriers that promoted hiking in Abuja but in the last few years, several hiking groups have emerged.

Residents and visitors interested in exercising have a wide variety of options to choose from each weekend.

Jabi Lake and Area 10 sports arena are popular for runners and “walkers” and those that like aerobics as well as team sports, especially Volleyball etc. There are lots of running groups too.

But I’m more intrigued by the adventure that hiking in Abuja brings…

Imagine having over 400 people go on a hiking trail that traverses undulating hills and lowlands; with no dull moment in between!

Trust Nigerians, we no dey ever copy and paste. So the hikes in Abuja comes with lots of music and dance as per say we’re a people that love to gbedu and have fun.

Since almost all the green areas and “gardens” in Abuja have been turned to glorified beer parlors, one great way to connect with nature in this city is tro’ hiking; exploring different trails and taking on the beautiful hills that overlook Abuja, and savoring the amazing landscape and views from the top of our city’s hills!

When next you are visit Abuja, make enquiries on how you can go for a hike…and you sure will be hooked.
