The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Mr C-Don Adinuba says he is disheartened by the decision and determination of some members of the Leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo to disgrace the memory of the first President of the country, Doctor Nnamdi Azikiwe, who he noted is a worthy son of Ndigbo, Anambra and African.

Mr. Adinuba stated this during a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Commissioner Adinuba noted with regrets that a day the whole world was honouring the Zik of Africa, was the day the Ohaneze Leadership decided to fix a meeting of Imeobi, thereby excluding themselves from the national programme.

Mr. Adinuba who considered their act as not only sabotage but a sacrilege maintained that Zik was the first and only patron of Ohaneze , noting that the least that was expected from them was to join the rest of the country to pay homage to the great son of Africa.

He said that Governor Willie Obiano is very consistent in stating that if there is any member of of Ohaneze Leadership who could be caught even in his dream disrespecting the memory of Zik it should not be the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia-Nwodo

Adinuba recalled that Zik displayed great affection for not only the Nwodo’s family, but for people of Nsukka, adding that despite the fact that he made Nsukka people have great sense of belonging by locating the University of Nigeria at Nsukka, John Nwodo has not shown gratitude.

The Commissioner noted that if they had gone to the Ohaneze meeting, they would have stopped the members of Imeobi from endorsing Presidential Candidates during elections.

Adinuba made it clear that Ohaneze is not a political party or political pressure group, and therefore should not show any level of partially or affection for any individuals or groups.

The Managing Director of National Light Newspaper Mr. Chuka Nnabuife who was at the meeting also bared his mind.
