The Nengo River Bridge will be fully asphalted in a week’s time. The hint was given during Governor Willie Obiano during an inspection visit to the site in company of his wife, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano.

The bridge is closed to traffic as the asphalting work progresses.

According to Governor Obiano, people of the area and others using the road have suffered hardship because of the deplorable condition of the road, and expressed satisfaction that the bridge linking Nteje, Umunya and other agrarian communities in the area, is finally nearing completion.

The Governor pointed out that the road from the Express way as well as from Nteje to the bridge has been asphalted, expressing optimism that the contractor will make true his word and complete the project in a record time.

While urging the people to support APGA in the coming elections , the Governor disclosed that the bridge and the road will also come with street lights and road markings, and reiterated that the best way to open up a place for development is to build roads.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, explained that the bridge is about thirty six meters with three spans of three meters each, expressing hope that the project will soon be commissioned.

The Contractor in his remarks explained that they are already doing priming and asphalting on the project, noting that the Governor’s continued support will drive the project to completion.

The Traditional Ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo who was full of commendations for the present administration, said that when completed, the bridge will help people of the area to evacuate their farm produce from the hinterlands, pledging to continue to support the present
government.
