The clergy have been reminded of their duties to the people and the need to keep the vows they have made.

This was part of the sermon during the collation of two Archdeacons and six Canons at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha by Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo, Bishop on the Niger.

The collation candidates were presented to the church and cross examined by the Bishop, after which they took oath of canonical obedience, submission and allegiance to God as well as  declarations against simony and submission to synod.

Bishop Nwokolo collated the Reverends and prayed that God will help them to fulfill their Ministry.

Earlier in a sermon titled ‘Do you love me more than this?’, Right Reverend Dr. Isaac Oluyamo, Bishop of Ijesha North Diocese highlighted the roles of a priest to include feeding the congregation with the word of God, guiding  them on the right path, caring  and visiting  the people, praying and fasting  on their behalf.

He charged Christians to obey God’s words in other to receive His blessings.

The new Canons and Archdeacons were later installed by the Sub Dean of All Saints Cathedral, Venerable Obiora Uzochukwu and other Archdeacons of the Diocese.

Songs from the All Saints Choir raised the spiritual tone of the collation service.
