A political Scientist, Professor Edmond Egbo has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to remain focused in its resolve to conduct free, fair and credible polls this weekend.

Professor Egbo made the call in Awka while reacting on last Saturday’s postponement of the General Elections.

He appealed to the electorate to put aside the losses they incurred as à result of the postponement and come out en-mass on the rescheduled dates for the elections and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.

Professor Egbo noted that the postponement is not unusual as it was done to enable INEC address logistic challenges it experienced before the postponement, expressing confidence that the electoral umpire will conduct credible polls next Saturday.

While urging security agencies to consider the plight of the people by ensuring absolute law and order before, during and after the elections, Professor Egbo asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to use the remaining days before the polls to dispatch the Permanent Voters Cards so that more eligible voters will participate in the exercise.
