The State government has intensified reconstruction work on the Agu-Awka junction of the Enugu-Onitsha express way.

Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri who monitored progress of work on the road reports that motorists making use of the road can now heave a sigh of relief.

When ABS arrived the construction site , staff of the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency were seen carrying out various duties including brushing, watering and asphalting of the road among others.

The Managing Director of the agency Mr Emeka Okoye was equally seen directing the workers on how best to get the job done.

Speaking to the ABS, Mr Okoye an Engineer explained that though the road is a federal one, it is being used mainly by Ndi Anambra, and because of series of accidents being recorded in the area,
Governor Willie Obiano decided to fix it to put an end to the ugly incidence.

Mr Okoye maintained that the Agency under the Governor’s directive is intervening on failed portions of many roads across the State including Nnobi junction, Ugwu Nwasike in Ogidi, Tarzan Junction axis Onitsha -Owerri Express road, Akwata road in Awka among others.

Some commercial bus drivers including Messrs Chibuzor Nnatuanya and Victor Oko, praised the State government for the move.
