State government has given five weeks ultimatum to the contractor handling the Ogboji-Onneh-Achina-Peter University Road in Achina to deliver the project.
Governor Willie Obiano gave the ultimatum during his inspection visit to the site.
Asphalting is ongoing on the fourteen point-one-one kilometer road.
Governor Obiano, who disclosed that he paid the contractor two weeks ago, said he came to make sure that the funds released are being properly utilized.
The Governor pointed out that he is vigorously pursuing infrastructural projects this year, especially road construction to open up strategic management places and communities.
He added that with the people’s support for him and the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party and it’s candidates, more dividends are assured.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor in his remarks announced that the project is seventy-five percent completed, noting that with the assurances given by the contractor, the road hopefully will be delivered in record time.
While stressing that they have concluded, earthwork, drainage, among others, the contractor handling the project, Mr. Izuchukwu Ibeneme who applauded the Governor for granting opportunities to the youths, promised to utilize the project fund judiciously.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye thanked the Governor for embarking on the road project which he said is very strategic.
Community members, APGA faithful and candidates in the area thronged the venue to receive the Governor.
