The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, says it has directed marketers of Petroleum products to ensure the availability of the product nation-wide especially during this election period and beyond.
Speaking in an interview with Abuchi Nwozor, the Group General Manager Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr Ndu Ughamadu said that the corporation has no plan to increase the pump price of petrol warning that any marketer found selling the product above government
approved rate will be decisively dealt with.
On the recent Media-hyped directive by IPMAN to its members to reduce the pump price of petrol from one hundred and forty-five naira to one hundred and forty naira per litre the NNPC spokesman, maintained that the corporation had no knowledge of such directive which has been
denied by IPMAN leadership.
According to Mr Ughamadu, NNPC has enough stock of petroleum products that will sustain the country from now till the next quarter cautioned petroleum marketers against hoarding or engaging in unapproved increment of the pump price of the product.
He said that as part of its social responsibility, the NNPC will always engage in those things that will enhance the living standards of the people.
The Group General Manager Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC used the opportunity to caution consumers of the product against panic buying and storage of the product in residential buildings warning them of its negative consequences.
He thanked Nigerians for their support and understanding with the functions of the NNPC and urged eligible voters to be law abiding while discharging their civic duties in tomorrow’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
