Voting at the Presidential and National Assembly elections have been adjudged as most peaceful in Awka North, Awka South and Anaocha council areas.
At all the polling units visited at Amawbia, Umuokpu Awka, Nibo, Nise, Agulu, Aguluzuigbo , Mgbakwu Isuaniocha, among others, witnessed large turnout of voters who were seen sitted waiting to cast their vote.
Collation of votes commenced in some polling units by two o’clock while voting was still ongoing at some of the units where voting was delayed due to some technical issues.
Speaking to the ABS at Aguluzigbo Hall One, in Anaocha council area, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh, said he was impressed with the turnout of voters, their comportment and the seriousness of INEC adhoc staff.
The member representing Awka South Two Constituency in the StateAssembly, Barrister Harford Oseke at Umuawulu, also commended the electorate in the area for being resilient till the end.
At Adazi-Nnukwu , Ibekwe Primary school 007 and 008, the Artoney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Mrs. Uju Nworgu, who expressed happiness that the voting went on without hitches in the area, noted that the little card reader issue they had was rectified quickly.
In their various speeches at Umueze Amawbia Ward One, the Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh and the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Willie Nwokoye, said good leadership attracts love and cooperation from ones subjects, commending people of Amawbia for defying the sun, by staying back after voting.
