The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Mrs Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party, winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial election, held last Saturday.
Announcing the result at INEC office Amawbia, the Returning Officer, Professor Charles Amobi Nwankwo, stated that Senator Ekwunife polled a total of one hundred and eighteen thousand four hundred and eighty-four votes while Senator Victor Umeh of APGA scored eighty-one thousand, four hundred and twenty-nine.
INEC Returning Officer for the election also said Chief Sylvester Okonkwo of APC obtained ten thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine votes.
Recall that Senator Umeh had already called for the cancellation of the election, insisting that INEC was not in control of the polls on the Election Day.
