Ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly polls, Ndi Anambra have been asked to rally behind APGA candidates for sustained legislature-executive harmony and overall development of Anambra State.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, made the appeal on the discussion segment of “Good Morning Anambra”, an ABS Television breakfast show.

Speaking on executive and legislature partnership in Anambra State, Professor Chukwulobelu noted that the harmonious working relationship enjoyed between Governor Willie Obiano and the Anambra State House of Assembly, accelerated progressive governance and development of Anambra State.

He debunked the claims that an opposition-led legislature would bring better scrutiny and oversight of the executive arm of government, arguing that having lawmakers from the same political party as the executive breeds better understanding, cordiality and speedy development, making reference to the clear progress that exists between Governor Obiano and the Anambra State House of Assembly.

On the misconceptions across some quarters that the Governor was pitching tent with the party at the center, the State’s Scribe said the Governor only enjoys strategic engagements with the Federal
Government, a relationship he noted has ensured that Anambra State enjoys significant dividends from the Federal Government.

He argued that the Nigeria’s system of government is one that depends largely on the center, noting that an unhealthy relationship with the federal government will only weigh down on the state.

On the Anambra Cargo Airport project, Professor Chukwulobelu said that work is still on, adding that the delay in its progress had come from the seizure of the complex surveillance drone owned by the project’s Chinese Technical Consultants, by the Nigeria Customs Service, during its importation into the country.
