The Anambra state government says it will embark on more road infrastructure projects to further improve quality road network in the state.

The state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano stated this during the inspection of the Enugwu-Ukwu link road which is under construction by the state government.

On arrival, it was observed that part of the about six kilometers road which links Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka local government area with the Enugu-Onitsha express way, and provides access to other nearby communities has already been asphalted while some parts are still at stone-base stage.

Governor Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke who described road infrastructure as key to development, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to constructing more roads for people of the state within its remaining three years.

The Governor disclosed that the government will complete road projects already started in the state, and will equally embark on massive road maintenance interventions on some of the roads in the state before the commencement of the rainy season to ensure its accessibility by Ndi Anambra.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work on the site, he promised Ndi Enugwu-Ukwu that the link road would be completed before three weeks as the state government will continue to financially support the contractor handling the project to ensure he delivers on schedule, and called on the contractor to work according to specifications.

Describing the state government’s cooperation on the project as encouraging, the Contractor handling the project, Engr. Emmanuel Okolo promised to deliver on schedule as long as the state government continue to financially support them.

He listed swampy topography of the area as major challenge facing them, and noted that with the financial backup of the state government they will surmount the challenge.
