Commendations have trailed the conduct of the 2019 House of Assembly election in Njikoka, Dunukofia, Idemili North and Idemili South council areas.

At most of the polling booths visited by our correspondent Ngozi Obileri, all the units were calm and peaceful.

Among the towns visited were Nawfia, Enugwu-Ukwu, Nimo, Abatete, Nnobi, Nnokwa, Obosi, Umuoji, Nkpor, among others.

In most of the polling units, INEC adhoc staff arrived on time, while voting commenced around nine o’clock in most of the areas.

Speaking to ABS at Saint Mary’s Catholic School, Nnobi Ward one, the Traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Nick Obi, said the election went on seamlessly.

On their parts, the member representing Idemili South at the state House of Assembly, Barrister Chuka Ezenwunne, and the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, described the exercise as most peaceful so far, commending INEC for a job well done

At Abatete, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr Stanley Nkwoka, appreciated electorate in the area for coming out to cast their votes and said the election was very peaceful.

At Akwa ward Ifitedunu, the Chief Medical Director Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr Basil Nwankwo and a stake holder in the area, Chief Vincent Udobi, noted that though they have card reader issue in the area, which was rectified almost immediately, voting went on smoothly afterwards.
