The outcome of the March 9, 2019 State Assembly election in Anambra shows an overwhelming support of Ndi Anambra to the Governor Willie Obiano administration. In the said election, the All Progressives Grand Alliance cruised to victory with an unprecedented eighty per cent of the State Assembly seats. APGA garnered twenty-four of the thirty House of Assembly seats in Anambra.
This goes to show the confidence of the people to the people-oriented administration of Akpokuedike. The victory equally manifests the support of the masses of the three arms of government viz the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary, being propelled by the egalitarian vision, mission and manifesto of APGA.
Before now, the un-informed had asked about Anambra State saying: “can anything good come out of this land?” But today, Anambra has not only demonstrated overwhelming traits that are exemplary and commendable, which are the envy and respect of all, but has also shown result-oriented leadership and capacity to remain a trail blazer.
All of these are made possible because Anambra has an altruistic leader, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano (Akpokuedike), whose interest and major concern is to improve the welfare of the masses. Thus, the State has remained a gift to the nation and the world. Today, the good people of Anambra State and friends of the state alike are united in doffing their caps in profound eulogy to Chief Obiano, the performing Governor of Anambra State, who unarguably, has become the yardstick, the barometer through which modern good governance could be measured.
The story of Anambra state has long changed since the inception of Governor Obiano’s administration with the provision of effective security of lives and property, drastic increase in the state IGR, attracting investment worth billions of dollars, renovation of classroom blocks, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and increasing same, not minding the economic challenges. Ndi Anambra are bearing good testimonies of enormous infrastructural development, prudent management of resources and achievement of maximum output with minimum input – a product of his doctrine of “Doing more with less”.
It would be recalled that Akpokuedike, on assumption of office on March 17, 2014, quite uncommonly, promised to continue with all projects started by previous administrations, complete and commission them, as well commence new projects, all simultaneously in what has become the 4Cs and he tenaciously adhered to this commitment. He promised the Anambra workers of prompt payment of salaries.
He is on ground with construction of roads crisscrossing every nook and cranny of the state. Cargo and plane refueling airport is also afoot in Anambra state. Workers and other commuters now move from place to place with much ease as a result of the “Willie is Working” buses he provided. He has empowered many communities and dragged the much needed democracy dividends to the grassroots through his Community Choose Your Project Initiative.
Today, Awka is a semblance of state capital with the three flyovers simultaneously built by Obiano. This, no doubt, is a Governor whose word is indeed his bond. Ndi Anambra are proud and can today raise our heads high because they have a governor that is radical, dynamic and pragmatic in his dispositions. A performing Governor, who has written his name on the sand of time, culminating in the heroic 21 over 21 victory in the last governorship election in the state. Glory be to God that the feat has been replicated in the state assembly poll.
While thanking Ndi Anambra for keeping faith with Akpokuedike Global, commendation must also go to the mother of the state, the woman whose presence is a spark-plug to Governor Obiano; an Amazon, a woman with the 3Bs to her name: Beauty, Brain and Brawn, a jewel of beauty, a quintessential and consummate first Lady, A woman of great cerebral prodigy and Founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), Chief Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano. Osodieme is a woman whose only hunger is to reduce the pains of poverty, starvation, homelessness, ignorance, diseases, and various forms of physical and mental disabilities and avoidable deaths in Anambra state.
As Ndi Anambra savour the euphoria of the victory at the polls, they are assured that the confidence reposed in the APGA government will not be in vain. The seventh assembly, like the sixth, will continue to support in all ways possible to move the state forward. All they want is the goodwill and prayers of Ndi Anambra as they hit another milestone in their focused determination to make Anambra state better than they met it. Ndi Anambra, Daalu nu
