Normal academic activities have commenced at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka following the suspension of the three months industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of
Universities ASUU.

A large number of students were sighted at their various Faculties and lecture rooms.

Some Teachers at the University were also seen taking classes while rescheduling defense of projects in some departments were on going and authorities also had released a revised academic calendar for the remaining part of the 2018/2019 session.

Some of the students, who spoke to the ABS expressed delight at the suspension of the ASUU strike and resumption of academic activities.

A One hundred level student Miss Ijeoma Dike and Somtochukwu Okonkwo, said some teachers came to class to teach and expressed happiness over the resumption of academic activities as they have been bored staying at home, though according to them they used the period of the strike to learn vocational skills and read books and regretted the full rush of academic work on students to cover the lost ground.

Emmanuel Ngene a final year student of the Adult Education and Economics revealed that the Institution has revised academic calendar with only three weeks left for teaching while examination starts from April which according to him will drastically affect students performance in the examinations.

While urging the Federal government to always employ diplomatic ways of handling national issues Mr. Ngene, expressed displeasure over the non participation of students in the just concluded general elections as many had registered in schools while others left their permanent voter cards, before traveling expecting to return before the elections.
