The President and Chief Executive Officer of Smile Train, Susannah Shafer has commended the Wife of Governor of Anambra State and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano for her immense contributions, and selfless services through her NGO.
Miss Shafer who made the commendation during a global partner meeting with the CAFÉ team led by Mrs Obiano at the corporate headquarters of Smile Train, in New York, United States of America noted that Mrs Obiano has touched the lives of many children by facilitating corrective surgeries for children with congenital birth defect of cleft lip or palate in Abambra state.
She acknowledged CAFÉ’s successful collaboration with Smile Train in Nigeria for five years stressing that the meeting with Mrs Obiano is the first of its kind with a partner organization at their headquarters.
The Chief Executive of Smile Train explained that the work of the organization is empowerment; raising of funds for awareness about cleft deformity and channelling the funds and resources to local medical professionals in partner hospitals so that children in the communities can benefit through life saving surgeries.
In her reaction, Mrs Obiano thanked Miss Shafer for the technical support of the Smile Train team which has seen CAFÉ facilitating over one hundred free corrective surgeries performed on beneficiaries in Anambra State.
She noted that the meeting has been rewarding because it has cemented the ongoing partnership between the two organizations, and has also yielded additional benefit of funding through local hospitals for more awareness creation.
Mrs Obiano stated that one of the ways CAFÉ fights trafficking in persons is through other initiatives such as Skills training and empowerment of over four-thousand-four hundred women in various skills including Tailoring and Fashion design, Soap making, Bakery and Confectionery, Hair dressing and Beauty Therapy, and Interior Decoration, Telephone and Computer repairs, Community Health Assistant Services as some of the measures of encouraging their financial independence.
Mrs Obiano, who was made Smile Train Goodwill Ambassador in 2018 was accompanied to the meeting by the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Rita Mmaduagwu, Member representing Onitsha South-two Anambra State Constituency, Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, Member Representing Idemmili North Constituency in Anambra State Constituency, Hon Nkolika Mmegbuanaeze, and Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue.

school Oba, Idemili South local government area,has been honored by
Ministry of Basic Education, for outstanding performance at the State
and National Entrance Examinations held recently.
Education correspondent Theophilus Ukoha reports that while congratulating Miss Anaka who was accompanied by her parents, Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha,unbehalf of Governor Willie Obiano, said the State government is very passionate about education and is optimistic that no child would be left behind,given that the State shared values hinges on carrying every body along.
Commissioner Omenugha advised her not to be distracted but remain more focused by insisting on doing the things that will make her Excel and realize her dream and thanked the parents of the girl, Mr and Mrs Eloka Anaka, for the support and encouragement they gave their daughter and urged them to sustain the zeal.
Responding, Mr and Mrs Eloka Anaka expressed gratitude for the honour accorded to their daughter, while thanking God,who used the the Education friendly Governor Willie Obiano to lay solid foundation for learning in the State. UPSOT
Miss Chisomelo Anaka after receiving the letter of appreciation from the Commissioner said her joy knows no bounds and plegded to work extra hard to achieve greater heights.
Miss Chisomelo Anaka who scored three hundred and ninety one over four hundred in State Entrance Examination and one hundred and eighty eight over two hundred in National Entrance Examination, was later presented with a set of books and letter of appreciation.
Present at the presentation includes Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic Education Mr Lawrence Nwankwo,Mr Ray Offor Director of Education and other Directors of the Ministry.
