The Chief Dental Surgeon , General Hospital Onitsha, Dr Jude Obi has identified the mouth as the gate way to the body and should be given proper cared for to avoid dental challenges .

Dr. Obi stated this in an interview with news men in Awka.

He said that the mouth has soft and hard tissues, saying that the hard tissue which is the teeth is very important in the mouth because of the vital role its plays in human existence.

According to him caring for the teeth needs to be cultivated by all individual to avoid having various disease that may result to toothache.

He urged Ndi Anambra to avoid high intake of refined carbohydrates as it destroys the teeth and causes high discomfort to the affected persons.

Dr Obi mentioned that refined carbohydrates like sweet, bread, soft drink, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream among others have negative effects on the teeth of the younger persons because of their high level of consumption.

He recommended brushing of the teeth in the morning and before bed time so as to brush off any remnant of these refined carbohydrates to prevent dental challenges.
